'Tis the Season for Window Dance Ensemble

We are approaching that time of year when Wayland’s finest dancers slip into their dancing shoes and twirl onto stage. It is the season for Window Dance Ensemble, Wayland High School’s very own dance troupe.

During the past few weeks, Window directors have been putting together a dynamic and diverse show. They are preparing dances that incorporate ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical techniques. Unlike last year, they have put together an upbeat dance called “Fosse,” which was developed by the famous choreographer Bob Fosse.

Window performances are also well known for their creativity in music. According to the co-director Lauren Spagnuolo, “The audience will be able to expect some great well-known music as well as new melodies.” Window will have its audience members dancing in their own seats.

This year, Window is fortunate to have extra guidance from Nikki Amara, one of the school’s guidance counselors. She has helped the dance group with feedback on auditions and dances.

Before becoming a Wayland High School guidance counselor, Amara danced professionally. Bringing her own talent and enthusiasm to Window, she has been welcomed with open arms. Co-director Nina Pongratz expresses how grateful she is for Amara’s help: “She has helped us so much so far, and we would not be where we are without her.”

The Window directors all agree that this is the best group of girls they have seen thus far, especially since their talents mix so well together.

This is the list of dancers that will be performing: Audrey Levin (12), Lauren Spagnuolo (11), Nina Pongratz (11), Kalya Whittemore (11), Carolyn Tang (11), Jenn Kandrac (11), Kendall Barnett (11), Samantha Sklar (10), Sylvia Lorenzini (10), Liz Entrup (10), Steph Connaghton (9), Jamie Spagnuolo (9), Mary Backman (9), Mary Ponsetto (9), and Valerie Eisenson (9).
