Wayland-Weston Crew Team off to Regionals

By Nick Van Sciver

In the first part of the nation wide event, the Wayland-Weston Crew team is going to the regionals competition in Princeton NJ. The boy’s varsity squad will send a open weight eight ( really nine including the coxswain) and a lightweight eight to compete. The prospects are good for both boats, with the open weight being the first boat of Wayland Weston in its class to have prospects of winning. The lightweight eight will also represent the program well. The boys and girls novice will be sending their first boats, and the varsity girls will send a open weight eight, a lightweight eight and a JV four.

If the participating boats place in the top three of their event at regionals, they can qualify for Nationals. Wayland-Weston has been to Nationals multiple times in the past. Last year, the boys varsity squad sent three boats to compete, two of which medaled.

Wish the team luck on Sunday.
