Girls Tennis Enter Tournament

Girls Varsity Tennis had another great victory against Concord Carlisle yesterday. The match was definitely very nerve wracking, depending, once again, on our first doubles pair, Hannah Rubin and Lindsey Shelton. After splitting sets, losing the first in a close tiebreak and winning the second 6-0, they untied the knot in the third set, winning 6-4. Not only was this Wayland’s second victory over Concord Carlisle in the past three years, but by winning this match the team finally met qualifications for the state-wide tournament, since they won half of the division two matches. By winning this match, they are now tied for second place in the division two league for the state tournament. If the team wins one of the next two final matches, Bedford and Acton-Boxboro, the team will be first place in the division.

Regardless of whether or not Girls Tennis beats Bedford and Acton-Boxboro, the team has finally qualified for the state tournament, accomplishing the team’s season goal. The team will now be able to compete against schools across the state. Wish us luck!
