Review of the Wayland Weekly Show's first year

Wayland Weekly is a show that runs every Tuesday on the Wayland Channel. It is hosted by Jojo Reilly and Ainsley Washek. The show’s structure was inspired by Sports Update, but Ainsley and Jojo wanted to take a different direction with it. They wanted to give people a chance to share certain stories and experiences, and share news about what is going on in our town.

Throughout the year, Ainsley and Jojo were able to make things interesting. People within the community would often approach Ainsley about the show, commenting on her works or asking about future episodes.

I applaud Ainsley and Jojo, as they brought the show to life. It was a great idea to begin with. Some episodes included members of ARC talking about the beach party, Lauren Grimanis sharing her experiences from Africa, drama students, cheerleaders, students who participated in the senior show, as well as some athletes and members of best buddies.

The downside to Ainsley and Jojo starting Wayland Weekly this year is that they are seniors and have to hand it off to new hosts next year. Those students will be Jake Greene (freshman) and Bassma Sayeh (junior). They are excited to continue the show. I talked to Bassma about it and she said, “I can’t wait to take it over; it should be fun.”
