You have seen them in hallways, in the Commons buying sugar cookies, and in the media center studying for math tests. First quarter is about to end, and it’s official: The class of 2012 is here. This year’s freshmen have moved into the ME building, ready for their four years of high school.

Wayland Student Press Network (WSPN) got to know a little bit about Wayland High’s newest students by interviewing those chosen to represent them. Class of 2012’s elected class officers are Carolyn Jones, Ben Rabin, Guy Efrat and Kyle Robb.

Kyle Robb, Treasurer

WSPN: Why did you decide to run for treasurer?
KR: Because I feel that I can handle money well, and that my class can trust me with it.

WSPN: So what are your plans for this year so far?
KR: Well, obviously we want to raise a lot of money for class sweatshirts, etc., and of course we want have a lot of fun, so we need fundraisers to make money for that fun.

WSPN: Choose three words that describe you.
KR: Happy, hard-working, and friendly.

WSPN: What’s special about 2012?
KR: We’re a close-knit class. There are cliques within us but also a lot of bonds, so it’s easy to go into Commons and find someone to hang out with.

WSPN: McCain or Obama?
KR: Obama, because he’s change and change is good.

Guy Efrat, Secretary

WSPN: What are your grand plans for the class of 2012?
GE: We’re talking about the magazine drive, thinking of other ideas for fundraisers.

WSPN: Pick 3 words that describe you.
GE: I’m funny, helpful, talkative.

WSPN: What’s the best and worst thing about being a freshman?
GE: The best thing is the free blocks, the worst is that everyone else is older than you!

WSPN: McCain or Obama?
GE: Obama. I kind of dislike Sarah Palin.

Ben Rabin, Vice-President

WSPN: Why did you decide to run for VP?
BR: I wanted to help my class and make this grade be a success.

WSPN: Any plans so far?
BR: We’re thinking about a sophomore-freshmen dance maybe, and the Six Flags trip in the future.

WSPN: How’s life as a freshman?
BR: Freshman year is fun, really different from the middle school. There’s more work but at the same time it’s more relaxed.

WSPN: What’s the best thing about being a freshman? The worst?
BR: The best is frees, and the worst is homework.

WSPN: McCain or Obama?
BR: Obama all the way! I’m not a big Bush supporter, and I think McCain is too much like him. We can’t afford that.

Carolyn Jones, President

WSPN: What made you run for President?
CJ: I really wanted to make a lot of money for our class and thought I could do a good job with fundraisers and planning class events.

WSPN: What are your plans for the class of 2012 so far?
CJ: Well, the magazine drive is a big fundraiser, and we’re also thinking about a sophomore-freshmen dance in the spring.

WSPN: Choose three words that describe you.
CJ: Bubbly, happy, and different.

WSPN: What are the best and worst things about being a freshman?
CJ: The best thing is that there isn’t a lot of work yet, and we’re getting used to everything, which is fun, but the worst is that we’re underclassmen!

WSPN: What’s special about 2012?
CJ: I think that we’re all really close, even though we’re all only freshmen. We’re all nice to each other and get along well, so I’m proud to represent us.

WSPN: McCain or Obama?
CJ: Obama. I think he has better plans for our economy.
