Changes on WSPN: blogs, automatic galleries, modern looks, and more!

As a person who builds websites, I need to tell people what has been changed on the sites I manage. This process can be frustrating because I could spend about a thousand hours improving and restructuring the websites on the back-end, where visitors cannot see, and then all I get in return for describing PHP, CSS, and HTML related changes is the following statement written on many blank faces: I don’t see any changes!

Well, forget that. Over the holiday break, in addition to all those back-end changes, I have spent time making every part of WSPN more visually appealing than before, as well as easier to navigate. I have also added a few new things to the network (one of them is what you are viewing right now—blogs on WSPN).

Here are a few of the changes. (If you stumble onto something new as you browse through WSPN that I have not explained on this post, just enjoy the little surprise.)

WSPN Blogs Section: We have added six blogs to our network. You can see their names on the navigation bar of this page. We have re-categorized some of the published posts under these blogs, so check them out later by going to the blogs section. Through these WSPN blogs, we are planning to provide somewhat lighter and shorter posts. We are now looking for bloggers for WSPN, so if you are interested, please contact us by clicking here.

Automatic Full Screen Galleries: You can now enjoy the cinematic galleries on WSPN without clicking through the photos. I have enlarged the viewing window of our galleries, so you can clearly look at every detail of the photos. At the same time, like an automated slideshow, our galleries will browse through the photos without any need to click, changing photos every 3 seconds. Experience this by going to this gallery: Pep Rally & Field Day ‘08 (59 Photos)

Here’s a quick list of some of the other changes:

• Cleaner and more robust WSPN.TV and WSP Gallery
• Top banner part of every page on WSPN has changed to a more modern look
• Improved search functionality with visually appealing search boxes and buttons
Dynamic pages for WSPN staff members and journalism students
• Ability to view all posts by a member by clicking on his or her name
Site design archives completed
• Lighter borders, backgrounds, cleaner look throughout the site, and less clutter
• Number of published posts next to each present and past member on the staff page
Press room completed
• A new featured content section
• WSPN fully compatible with Internet Explorer 7.0 and 6.0
• Widescreen optimized pages throughout WSPN
• Tabs, lists, and buttons with gradient background
• New modern look and feel throughout every division
• Corrected published dates for a number of galleries
• Better organization of previous posts

There are more changes that I can’t remember right now,
so I will leave it up to you to find them. Enjoy!

Is this the last redesign, please?

I like it and all, but it can be hard for everyone to keep up, especially when it changes every few weeks.
