I love traveling, shopping and discovering new and fun places to visit. I especially love discovering great places to eat! I’m also an avid shopper and am on top of the new and interesting shops and sales. When a store opens in Wayland or a nearby town, I always love checking it out.

My family has always had a passion for trying a wide variety of food, especially from different cultures. I too enjoy trying unique food because of my parents’ influence.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I went out to dinner with my grandma at a restaurant called Scutra in Arlington. Scutra is a small, upscale European restaurant with some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted. Although it has been open since August of 2002, it’s a hidden gem that definitely deserves to be recognized.

I was greeted by a cozy atmosphere of candlelit tables and orange curtains that separated different sections of the restaurant. The hostess brought us to our table immediately. The waiter quickly came to our table and was friendly, offering his opinions on the different dishes. He also brought us delicious seasoned olive oil with warm, crusty bread.

I went to Scutra during “Lobster Fiesta,” which was offered for the whole month of August and featured a special menu showcasing lobster dishes such as New England Style Lobster Pot Pie and Baked Stuffed Lobster (shrimp and scallop stuffing) with baked potato and corn. I ordered a refreshing mango soda for my drink and Crab Ravioli with Lobster for my meal, which contained lobster meat in a lobster brandy cream. It had a thick and seasoned cream sauce with large pieces of lobster meat.

The two page menu is always changing to keep customers returning for new and delicious meals. There’s also a dessert menu that includes fruit tarts, chocolate cakes, puddings and more. Scutra most definitely has something for everyone on the menu.

My grandma and I shared bananas foster for dessert, which had warm caramelized bananas sautéed in a rum and dark brown sugar sauce and was wrapped in a crispy coating of filo dough. It was hot and delicious.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to people who are looking for a high-end, quiet place for a special night out.
