Community responds to nutrition policy

Students are interviewed about the new restaurant, “Giacomo’s,” at the Wayland town center. It replaced Bertucci’s, which filed for bankruptcy in April 2018.

Students and faculty stepped into the Commons this year to find drastically different options on the lunch menu. Massachusetts’s new school health legislation, which aims to promote healthy eating habits among youth, limits the lunch selection to healthier alternatives of past lunch options.

The implementation of the new policy has generated a broad range of opinions, stretching from those who sympathize with the health-minded cause to those who believe the policy is too restrictive. Members of the WHS community shared their reactions to the policy with WSPN.
