Laura Stavisky, junior:
“I like it; however, I think it is extremely addictive because you can constantly see how your grade changes, even from day-to-day. I check engrade like I check for Facebook notifications, so I can see if anything has been updated. For me it’s not an issue that parents can see it because they can check it via iParent as well, so I don’t think it makes much of a difference. I do think it’s helpful because you can find out if you’re missing assignments, or if you can use extra credit in someway to help boost your grade up.”

Brendan Lau, sophomore:
“I think Engrade is a good tool for students to know their grade at any time during the quarter, not just on a final report card. I think it’s fine that parents can see it because they look at our report cards anyway, so if they see the progress, then I guess it’s all right as long as you turn out your final grade to be just as good.”

Lily Jurist, freshman:
“I like Engrade because we don’t have to wait until our next class to get our grades, so we’re more up to date with what our grades are. I don’t really like that my parents can look at it because I feel like if I want to share my grades with my parents, then I will but if I don’t, then I don’t think they need to see my individual grades.”

Kazi Ahmed, senior:
“I think Engrade is a helpful way to see what grades you have, but at the same time I think it can be a bit detrimental to students who don’t get the grades they want to receive. I wouldn’t say it’s practical in the sense that you get your grades regardless of whether or not you have Engrade, but it is a good way to see how well you’re doing before receiving a report card. Parents are generally supposed to see your grades anyway, so personally I have nothing against the fact that parents can look at it.”

Isabelle Lyons, sophomore:
“I think Engrade is really helpful because you get to see what grades you have and what you’re missing in your classes.”

Ethan Hecker, junior:
“My parents check my grades constantly. They find out about my test grades before I do and immediately will text me a response to a grade before I even know what it is. I just don’t like it. I feel like it’s good to know what your grade is halfway through a quarter, but for the most part it just adds stress.”
