This autumn and upcoming winter, we are seeing a lot of interesting fashion trends around school and on the streets. Here are some tips for girls on how to keep up with the trends!

There are several interesting takes on the much needed sweater for our New England weather. You can get sweaters with fluffy fabric or graphic designs or sweaters that are super oversized. If you combine one of these sweater choices with a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans or a shift dress, you’re ready for fall!

For shoes, ankle booties, over the knee boots, Dr. Martens and cut-out designs are coming up again and again. These shoes are both fashionable and practical for the winter.

If you’re looking for outerwear, the classic leather jacket is making a comeback. Plus, it goes well with everything and keeps you super warm. Also, if you find one that has a suede fabric or fur or quilted detailing, your new staple jacket can also be a statement piece.

If you’re daring, a jumpsuit, maxi skirt or dress would all be smart buys. Both come in a variety of cuts and designs, so you’re sure to find the perfect one for you. They also look super cute with a leather jacket and ankle booties.

For girls, tartan is definitely a must for fall (just make sure it’s not too “schoolgirl”). Plus, velvet is reappearing in unexpected ways such as in skirts, pinafores and dresses. Either one of these trends can be worn with a cropped sweater, sheer tights and cut-out shoes for school.

Finally, there are some other old trends returning to the stage, and modern monochrome is one of them. You can never go wrong with black and white, and let’s not forget about lace. Although you might think it looks like Grandma’s tablecloth, designers are modernizing it into cool and wearable pieces.
