The Dubtown Beat: Goodbye October

DubtownBeat1With Halloween done and first term almost complete, it is a great time to go out and relax by vibing to some dope new music. Some huge artists have just dropped new albums, and other big names are set to release new music this week.

Let’s start with one of the biggest names in rock. Canadian indie rock group Arcade Fire just released their fourth studio album, called “Reflektor.” What makes this release even better? The new album is actually a double LP, with the first disc having seven tracks and the second disc having six. Although not as good as their universally acclaimed 2010 album, “The Suburbs,” this new release will not disappoint.

Speaking of big names, one of the greatest rappers ever is about to drop perhaps the most anticipated rap album of the year. Eminem is going back to his roots by making a follow up to his classic album “The Marshall Mathers LP.” I prefer Em’s old music to his newer stuff, so hopefully version two of his third studio album will not disappoint. “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” is set to be released on November 5.

On the pop front, JT put out the second installment of his “20/20 Experience” series. Although it gets repetitive, this LP is chock-full of lighthearted pop jams. My favorite cut off of this album is lead single “Take Back the Night.” Pick up “The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2” or “The 20/20 Experience — The Complete Experience” in stores now.

One last album to give listen to is M.I.A.’s new album, “Matangi.” The LP, set for release on November 5, features a diverse sonic experience that is extremely inventive. You can pre-order the album on iTunes right now.

Good luck finishing up first term, and as always, check back for more great new music!
