Hello readers! First of all, I am looking for the perfect new name for this blog. If you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to throw some of your ideas in the comment section below. Okay, now back to the tunes. If you’re a fan of less mainstream music, this post is for you. Some great lesser-known artists have dropped some new material that is definitely worth a listen.

Let’s start with some music from the hottest new video game. I am sure many WHS students have gotten around to playing the new Grand Theft Auto game. One of my favorite artists made a song for the soundtrack that appears in the game. Experimental jazz-electronic artist Flying Lotus, who is actually the grandnephew of famous saxophonist John Coltrane, contributed a song called “Stonecutters” to the soundtrack of GTA. The track is a banging mix of smooth electronics and slick jazz, and it is the perfect song to vibe to. Check out “Stonecutters” and the rest of the soundtrack below. You can also visit FlyLo’s website for more of his unique tunes:

If you’re a fan of chill instrumental techno music, then RJD2’s new album “More Is Than Isn’t” is for you. RJD2 incorporates real instruments and automated sounds into his songs to create surreal and interesting beats that defy all other artists’. RJD2 has released eight albums prior, but this new album, released on October 8, has been his most successful. Check out RJD2’s new album on his website:

On the topic of hipster music, Daughter has just released their new album, “If You Leave.” Daughter has released three EPs, but this is their first full-length album. A British website called “For Folk’s Sake” described Daughter’s music as “one of the most unique sounds in the pop landscape today.” Check out their new album here:

If you’re looking for some new hip-hop, you should check out Mr. Probz’s new album “The Treatment,” which was released in September. Although his songs feature very deep and depressing lyrics, the album’s amazing beats make up for the sullen mood. This new album references the rapper’s experience as an inner-city kid growing up and his many struggles. To hear his new album, follow this link:

That is all for now. Check back later for some more great music!
