Breaking News: Middle School closed due to main water pipe burst

Above, Middle School students and faculty wait in the field house as students wait to be picked up by parents.
A water main break pipe burst at the middle school, cutting off water supply and resulting in the cancellation of the school day for middle school students. Principal Betsy Gavron received a call from facilitates manager Pat Morris at 6:35 a.m., who alerted her of the water main break. After reaching the decision with assistant superintendent Brad Crozier to cancel school for the day, iAuto Alert messages were sent to parents’ phones, and an email was sent to middle school faculty, alerting them of the cancellation. Students who had already arrived to school were relocated to the field house to be picked up by parents, and students en route to the middle school on the bus were dropped off at the high school and ushered into the field house.

Gavron reports that the water main break is currently being worked on and WMS operations are expected to resume tomorrow. It is unclear whether or not middle school students will have to make up today’s cancellation at the end of the scheduled school year.
