SADD and the Climate Committee will host a school-wide dance on Valentines Day, running from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the Commons. [The dance is] something fun for everyone to do and just a way for the grades to connect, senior Climate Committee co-president Emma Sheehan said. The tickets will be sold during lunches on the week of the dance and at the door for $5.

Junior Madeline Maurer has recently switched from acting to stage management, a different yet essential role in the theater. She will, however, continue to act periodically as well. “In my experience, theater is a great way to learn empathy skills, and it’s a great way to create friendships,” Maurer said. “I think bringing theater to that population would help a lot with a lot of different aspects of their life if not just to give them a hobby to do.”

Students from all grades taking many languages took part in the original Latin Club. The club was very popular, and in 1983, boasted 115 members. “The Latin Club, under the direction of [founder Frank] Smith, is easily one of the oldest and most popular clubs at WHS,” the WHS Reflector yearbook wrote in 1983. “For over 20 years, club members have sponsored dances, banquets, dramatic productions and other activities revolving around classical and especially Roman Themes. This year’s club ran a very profitable late summer car wash, sponsored it 22nd annual initiation ceremony, the Saturnalian Banquet, an evening of dramatic readings, a Medieval Pilgrimage and a Greek Tragedy.”
