Happy 175th birthday to the Wayland Free Public Library

Talia Macchi and Abby Raftery

To celebrate the 175th birthday of the Wayland Free Public Library, the library hosted a presentation to the public on Sunday, March 19. Residents attending the event learned about the library’s history from three speakers who shared their memories and knowledge. The library was founded in 1848 and later opened in 1900 as the first free public library in Massachusetts. The library will continue its birthday festivities with a party on Sunday, May 7 that will have decorations and cake. That event will be geared towards children and families to remind the public of the library’s significance.
