Both the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams kicked off their season with friendly scrimmages on Tuesday. The boys lost 6-5 to Wellesley, and the girls clobbered Reading 17-3. Freshman Michael Lampert scored two goals for the boys’ team in his first ever varsity action. His brother, Jimmy, assisted him on both scores. How’s that for chemistry?
The Final Four is set. Villanova, Oklahoma, Syracuse, and North Carolina with all be playing this coming weekend with one common goal: finish the season as NCAA champions. There were a couple shockers in the elite eight. Villanova, a two seed, knocked off the number one overall seed Kansas (I was the only person in my tournament challenge group to predict this correctly, thank you very much). Also, 10th seeded Syracuse upset Virginia, who was also a one seed. I’ve been a sucker for Villanova this year, and I hope they win against Oklahoma. However, stopping Buddy Hield is a monumental task. As for Syracuse and North Carolina, will the number one seeded Tar Heels prevail, or will the Orange continue their cinderella run through the tournament? Malachi Richardson must have a huge game if ‘Cuse is to upset North Carolina.
As the NBA and NHL seasons come to a close, both the Celtics and Bruins will once again play in the postseason. As of now, the C’s are the 5th seed in the eastern conference, while the B’s are the 7th. Hopefully one of them can bring another banner to Boston this year.
