Sophomore David Lathan dresses in a flannel long sleeve t-shirt and joggers as a part of the school wide “pajama day” psych. “Don’t worry about what other people will say or think. If you are fine being boring, then be boring. If you want to wear something that other people wouldn’t agree with, just go for it,” Lathan said.

David Lathan

Name: David Lathan

Grade: 10

Favorite store:

“Most recently, I’d say my favorite store is Savers, which is a thrift shop. I’d say in the past, it [was] H&M. I get a lot of my jackets, specifically online, from Zaful because it’s cheap.”

Online shopping or in-store?

“In-store shopping because I can see how everything fits.”

Fashion icon:

“I really like the styles of Jaden Smith and Tyler the Creator. He graduated last year, but [WHS Class of 2018 alumnus] Kieran [Ireland] is a very big style icon for me.”

Lathan dresses in white Vans with rose socks, black joggers from H&M, and a shirt from a thrift shop.

Favorite season:

“Definitely fall. You can wear coats, jackets, or no coat. It’s perfect for matching.”

Design time:

“[Planning outfits] takes longer than I would like it to. I definitely should plan at night, but I end up planning [them] last minute in the morning.”

Favorite article of clothing:

“I have one very bright floral sweatshirt. I got it last year. It’s my favorite because it makes a statement, but it’s also really soft.”

Style word:

“Outgoing. I don’t know if that describes it exactly, but it’s mostly bright and fun.”

Fashion-challenged advice:

“I’d say just do whatever you want. Don’t worry about what other people will say or think. If you are fine being boring, then be boring. If you want to wear something that other people wouldn’t agree with, just go for it.”
