In celebration of the touchdown ran by junior running back Shayne Sutton, senior Dylan Derubeis flashes his Warrior spear. For the next fall football season, the team will be receiving new and improved jerseys, so the players cherish the last moments in this iconic black and orange attire. "Next year we have been informed that the spear will not appear on the new home black jerseys as it is 'racially insensitive'," Derubeis said. "I pointed at the spear because it’s the true symbol of Wayland football and we are the last group of seniors who ever get to play with it on."
In their first DCL home game of the season, the Wayland Warriors beat the Bedford Buccaneers in a commanding victory 38-7. The Warriors were led by seniors Jaison Tucker (178 yards and 2 TD) and Will Carr (85 yards and 2 TD) as they moved to 3-0 on the year.
