A student sits down at her desk, opening her planner and flipping to the marker labeled "today." Cramped handwriting in the small box tells her that she has a paper, two quizzes, a big test and a project all due in the next two days. When she starts the seemingly endless list of new tasks, her heart sinks deeper and deeper until she begins to feel helpless.

December doesn’t just bring snow—it also brings Christmas decorations, and lots of them. Christmas decorations are found everywhere from the mall to the Boston Common to commercials on your television and even Wayland High School as of last Wednesday. The WHS holiday decorations, which were set up by Kevin Delaney's advisory, brought happiness to many students, but not for long.

Toward the end of the school year, many seniors and underclassmen await to look at their yearbooks to see friends and classmates in it. One of the most popular section in the WHS Reflector is the senior superlatives. However, this year, there is a shortage of some superlatives because a few of them are being removed, along with senior survey questions, which may shock students.

Pictured above is part of the decoration display set up by Delaneys advisory this past Wednesday as part of their community service day. No matter how well-intentioned the display creators were, or how lovely people might find the display to be, there can be no doubt that this is a Christmas display consisting of elements of Christian symbolism,” wrote Ritchie in a memo written to faculty Thursday.

Pictured above is a sign on the business lab door directing students to where they should go for classes. This past August, mold was found in the room, and for nearly a week in November, the room was closed so that the mold could be abated. I was bothered that something that was supposed to require immediate action took three months,” business teacher Jim Page said.

For nearly a week in November, the WHS business lab was closed due to mold that had been found earlier in August. On Nov. 20, the business lab, also known as room B225, was locked with the lights off. A sign on the door directed students to report to different rooms for class with no explanation.

Pictured above is senior Robert Williams Jr. playing in the 2013 Turkey Day game. This year, Williams had to learn to live in the spotlight. “I am the cockiest, most arrogant kid ever when it comes to sports, but I hate when people say I’m good,” Williams said.

One day back in the second grade, WHS senior Ryan Bache told his parents he wanted to have a play date with his new friend Robert, who was in the METCO program. Bache’s parents were happy to oblige. The only problem? There were two Roberts in Happy Hollow's class of 2014 Wayland METCO program. Robert Parker Mason and Robert Williams.
Pictured above is senior Sydney Schaefer. Schaefer has been dancing since the age of five and is one of the directors of WHS dance troupe, Window. “I think it’s just a really good stress reliever, no matter what you’re doing,” Schaefer said. “It takes your mind away from everything else that’s going on. In dance you’re never wrong, it’s just something you always keep improving on. It proves that the amount of effort you put into something pays off.”
