Tune in: the boys varsity soccer team

Who arranged the playlist?

“I worked on it with the other soccer captains and we also took input from the team,” junior boys soccer captain Ben Chen said.

Why did you choose the songs you did?

“The other songs we chose were a lot of hip-hop because our team loves hip-hop,” Chen said. “We also went with a couple FIFA songs since we’re all soccer players, and we all play FIFA. Some of the other songs are just classic rock and roll to get the move going for the game.”

Do any of the songs in the playlist have a special meaning to the team?

“We always start off with ‘The Blood’ which is an Irish song, because the soccer team used to get together and watch ‘The Boondock Saints’ as [a] pre-game ritual, and so that’s kind of why we always play ‘The Blood,'” Chen said.

How does your playlist affect the team?

“I feel like our playlist gets everyone locked in because it’s just added to our routine [while] we’re at home,” Chen said. “Just hearing all the songs and going down the list gets us all hyped.”
