Since September, students have been waiting impatiently for Winter Week, the days after midterms when teachers bring their classes to attend different activities throughout the school.
The tradition, usually a welcome alternative to sitting in class, will open on Tuesday morning with a school assembly after homeroom, in the Field House and a performance by the Harvard Opportunes, an a cappella group, known for their elaborate harmonies and sense of humor. The MIT Logarithms a cappella group will also perform later on in the week.

Several bands, like Moken Airwalk, We Are Zombie!, Lollipop Surprise, Sound Sedation, and Annelise Cohen and Dan Worstell, will perform, all made up of WHS students.
Local adults will show their musical talents in the bands called Daddios and Midlife Crisis, and Wayland graduates Ben Boegehold and Carl Sailor, class of 2008, will also perform in musical acts. Boegehold will be soloing troubadour-style on his guitar, while Sailor will play with his band.
Students are also excited for the annual “Singled Out,” a game show in which one can “win-a-date” with a senior by playing the game and correctly answering questions about the senior.
Andrew Pilkington, a senior, will be showing the first episode of his TV mini-series called “Classroom” starring students from WHS. After the show, Pilkington will also show a preview of his next episode through a live performance by the actors.
On a more serious note, the WHS Building committee will also hold an event to explain exactly what the plans are for the new high school, which will begin construction next fall.
Several traditional events have been canceled this year for various reasons. One of these is the Poetry Slam, usually sponsored by the WHS English department. However, no Slam has been scheduled this year due to a lack of funding.
Adam Ezra, a musician who graduated from WHS, has also given Winter Week performances in years past that were always a huge hit among students. Ezra is currently on tour and cannot play during Winter Week, but he has promised to perform at WHS another time this year.
