Co-Editor-in-Chief Sasha Libenzon, Editor Marissa Mendoza and WSPN’s Maddie Zajac produced an article and gallery on WHS’s no cell phone policy. Mendoza also wrote a breaking news piece on smoke reported inside of a Wayland resident’s home. Meanwhile, WSPN’s Chloe Zilembo and Penelope Biddle and Staff Reporters Jillian Mele, Vanessa Taxiarchis and Jessi Dretler created a guidebook for students voting this year.
Sports:
WSPN’s Bella Schreiber reported on the field hockey team’s new coaching staff. Libenzon spotlighted WHS alumni Devin Wong’s acceptance to the position of assistant coach of the Harvard University Nordic Ski Team. Meanwhile, WSPN’s Elyssa Grillo and Mele previewed the varsity football team’s senior night game against Newton South.
Opinion:
Editor Jeffery Zhang, WSPN’s Carolina Sdoia and Olivia Green and Staff Reporters Ben Jackson, Fiona Peltonen and Grillo shared their opinion on social media’s influence in politics. Schreiber discussed the financial strain of applying to colleges.
A&E:
Editor Mischa Lee wrote about Waylands annual Masquerade concert. Lee, Sdoia, Grillo and Dretler spotlighted the musical group, the Blue Man Group.
Meanwhile Jackson created a Halloween crossword. WSPN’s Sofia Ciciarelli spotlighted poet, book writer and musician Charles Coe.
Multimedia:
WSPN’s Natalie Greenaway and Staff Reporters Ravi Kapadia and Annabel Orcutt created a gallery on Russel’s Garden Center’s first annual “Fall Festival”. WSPN Staff produced a gallery on the Class of 2025 celebrating the annual Halloween tradition at WHS. Meanwhile, WSPN’s Ryan Chase and Staff Reporter Melina Barris photographed the Fall Festival at WHS which included the annual haunted house hosted by the Connect Program and an additional carnival held by National Honors Society (NHS) and Students Against Destructive Discussions (SADD).
Broadcast:
Co-Editor Jane Tardif, Jackson and Dretler broke down Wayland’s news in the Weekly Breakdown Episode 96. WSPN’s Bowen Morrison, Staff Reporter Alex Evangelista and Jackson continued with their fifth discussion on the New England Patriots’ performance so far in the 2024 season.
