On Nov. 4, popular rapper Lil Uzi Vert released their fourth studio album, “Eternal Atake 2.” This sequel features 16 tracks and keeps Lil Uzi Vert’s recognizable sound. This album follows “Pink Tape,” which was released on June 30 last year and had generally positive reviews. However, the same can not be said for “Eternal Atake 2.” Some fans believe that the album is rushed and lacks strong performances that led to their prior success. Others believe that Lil Uzi Vert only released it to satisfy their label.
“We Good” is the opening track on the new album, “Eternal Atake 2.” A snippet of the song was originally posted on Lil Uzi Vert’s Instagram and was titled “Im Cooked,” but seven hours before the album’s official release, they revealed this first track would be officially titled as “We Good.” This song uses layered vocals to create Lil Uzi Vert’s classic futuristic trap sound. The lyrics in this song are quite repetitive as Lil Uzi Vert repeats the same few verses multiple times. That being said, the energetic hook and beat in the background of this song makes it decent, so we would give it a 5/10.
“Mr. Chow” is the No. 8 song on the album and is one of the more popular songs. In this song Lil Uzi Vert flaunts their riches, mainly their Patek watch, as well comparing themself to Leslie Chow, an eccentric, rich antagonist from the movie series, The Hangover. The song opens with synths and horns and is upbeat all the way through giving it a triumphant feel. Once again, Lil Uzi Vert uses repetitive lyrics, but for this track it seems to fit with the vibe of the song. This song is better than most songs on the album and is higher quality. It feels less rushed than most of the other tracks, so we would give it a 7.5/10.
“Chill Bae” is the No. 12 song on the track and in our opinion one of the best. It is very different from the other songs on this album as Lil Uzi Vert taps into their R&B side. The song is about a complicated relationship as it focuses on the good and bad times of being in love. It is a lot more low key than the other songs on the album but still has a mystical feel to it. This song has relaxed delivery from Lil Uzi Vert and smooth production, which work well with the intended vibe of the song. Overall, this song is a highlight from this inconsistent album, and we would give it an 8/10.
As the second track on the album, “Light Year (Practice)” opens with an upbeat, electronic and fast paced rap. The track has emerged as one of the most streamed as well as one of the only songs fans have expressed their gratitude for. It brings fans back to some of Lil Uzi Vert’s earlier works, such as 2017’s “The Way Life Goes” from the album “Luv Is Rage 2.” Some fans have also said that this track sounds like something from Lil Uzi Vert’s summer 2023 project “Pink Tape,” and have even theorized that this song has been finished for a while and was simply a cut from his previous album. Overall, this song gave fans some false hope for a promising album with it sitting as the second track, but still remains as one of the few gems from “Eternal Atake 2.” We rated this song an 8.5/10.
“Meteor Man” appears as the third track on the album, offering 30 seconds of a traditional mid 2010s Uzi beat, raising fans’ hopes that this song would be another flashback to his chart topping days of 2017, 2018 and 2019. Unfortunately for these hopeful fans, Lil Uzi Vert starts the song mumbling through their first verse, wasting time throughout the song by repeatedly methodically singing “yeah, yeah yeah, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.” This drained the time on a beat that a 2017 Lil Uzi Vert would have torn up and created a viral sensation out of. Overall, we rate this track a 4/10 due to its disappointing lyrics following a very promising beat.
All in all, the album is not Lil Uzi Vert’s best work. It is very inconsistent and has sloppy production at times. There are a few good songs on this album, but none of them are great. In our opinion, this is Lil Uzi Vert’s worst studio album and is nowhere near as good as “Eternal Atake,” “Pink Tape” or “Luv is Rage 2.” “Eternal Take 2” is very forgettable and lacks creativity. Although some fans were excited for this new album, we would be surprised if they were not incredibly disappointed. Overall, we would give this album a generous 3.5/10.
