The March artist of the month is freshman Samantha Taurisano. Taurisano uses art as a way to express herself and often finds inspiration for her art in her surroundings.
When did you start doing art?
“I started around 2020, during COVID, because I was online a lot, and I would see other people’s art and I started from that.”
Since you started, has your art style changed since then?
“Yeah, it used to be very cartoon-like and chibi style, but then it evolved and now it’s a little bit more realistic with better proportions.”
What are your favorite art styles or the ones you’re best at?
“I like different art styles. I really like my style right now and I also think I’m good at it too which is probably why I like it a lot, but I also like cartoon-like styles. They’re both equally fun.”
How long does each piece of art take you?
“Sometimes they can take two hours but sometimes they can take seven hours.”
Where do you find your inspiration for your art?
“Usually on pinterest and I see other people’s artwork and it inspires me to make my own.”
What was your favorite piece of art you’ve ever made?
“Every piece that takes me the most amount of time is usually my favorite because it looks the best since I spend a lot of time on the details. Currently my favorite is the portrait I made in Art 1, since it’s probably the only one I have finished.”
Why do you like art?
“I like it because it’s a way that I get to express myself and it’s an interest that I feel like a lot of people are into, so I can find people that have similar [styles] to me. It’s also a fun hobby.”
