This month’s artist of the month is junior Abby Peredna. Peredna had a passion for art at a young age and has since developed and improved her art in various classes.
How long have you been doing art?
“I’ve been doing art since elementary school and gained even more of a passion for it as I have taken art classes throughout high school.”
Where and how did you discover your passion for art?
“I discovered my passion for art when my sister started doing it and I was inspired by the great work that she did.”
What art courses have you taken at WHS?
“During freshman year I took Art 1, sophomore year I took Art 2 and this year, junior year, I am taking honors Art 3.”
Where do you get inspiration for your art from?
“I get a lot of my inspiration for my work from Pinterest or things around me.”
What is your favorite style of art?
“I enjoy doing portraits because I feel like that’s where I can show my best abilities in my artwork. I also like using graphite a lot because it is good for showing depth in my pieces.”
What is your favorite piece of art that you’ve made?
“My favorite piece of art I’ve ever made is my portrait of Princess Diana because I thought it came out really good and it really looks like her.”
Why do you like art?
“I like art because it’s a great course and there’s a lot of freedom on what you can draw and create.”
Has your art style changed over the years?
“I don’t think my art has really changed very much, but I do think that I’ve definitely grown and have become a better artist by working on pieces outside of class and gaining more experience in the art classes at school.”
How long do you think each piece of art takes you to complete?
“To completely finish a piece of art, depending on the size and complexity of the piece, it usually takes me about half a quarter, so about a month or so.”
