On Saturday, Sept. 23, Wayland-Weston crew held its annual ergathon at the Wayland Town Beach. The ergathon is the crew team’s biggest fundraiser of the year. All members of both the boys and girls middle and high school teams are required to attend the event and participate. This year, six teams were randomly created. There were three rounds with two teams facing each other at a time. Each team had around 12-14 ergs, two less than the amount of people on the team. People switched off who was rowing at one time and on which erg, until each erg had 0 meters left. In total, each team had to erg for around 7,000 meters. After a team zeroed out all the ergs on their side, a final person would row a 500 meter sprint, and whichever team finished the sprint first won.
