On Friday, March 22, the Wayland Connect Program is hosting the Spring Fling event for all Wayland High School (WHS) students. It will take place in the WHS commons from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.. This year is the first year that this event is taking place.
On Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22, tickets can be pre-purchased in the commons during all three lunches for $10. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $15.
The event will consist of music, food trucks, games and raffles. Everyone who purchases a ticket will automatically be entered into a raffle for a chance to win Assistant Principal Laura Cole’s parking spot, and juniors and sophomores will also have the chance to win two free parking passes for the next school year. Additionally, everyone who is in the raffle will have a chance to win free gift cards to local restaurants.
“We had to get in contact with a lot of companies for gift cards and food trucks,” Connect student senior Bronwyn Keenan said. “We [had many] teams working on different things like decorations and marketing.”
The Spring Fling is completely organized by Connect Program students. They have been organizing this event over the past few weeks to create a memorable experience for all students at WHS, so they hope that students will attend the event.
“I’ve always heard people in the school talk about how they really want [to have] more dances [and] events [at] our school,” Keenan said. “[So], I feel like that really pushed us to make [it] happen.”
