During the last two weeks, I’ve been flooded with things to put in a new post. Ideas just kept raining down on me – I was practically drenched in them.
Speaking of rain: just as spring started, we got some serious precipitation. I heard that kids living on the aptly named Pelham Island Road had to go home on a dump truck. A boat may have been a better idea, but no need to get picky.
I’m also pretty sure that the car wash industry took a hit the past two weeks. My mom’s car was sparkling by the time we got home last week.
It’s too bad Mark Twain isn’t around. He would have been able to write a sequel to Huckleberry Finn. Huck could take a tour through Wayland on his raft, instead of going down the Mississippi River. After all, the amount of water we got these past two weeks could actually compete with the Mississippi.

Although I’m having a fun time making jokes (which aren’t too dry this time around) about the weather, I’m excited for the rain to dry up. Not just because it’ll spare me from having to make really corny jokes or because the roads will open up again, but because I might find a shipwreck or treasure sitting on the road.
Speaking of shipwrecks and treasures, I’m just glad that there weren’t any pirates. With this kind of water, I was a little nervous. But, rest assured, my spices and sugarcane made it home safely. Blackbeard will just have to try again the next time we get flooded like this.
Well, I hope you’ve had fun soaking in all my rain jokes. But trying to think of more is leaving me a little bloated, so I’ll stop here.

not a dump truck. the "Old Gloria" duckboat. additionally, there was enough water for me to canoe all the way from River Road by the Sudbury River through the floodplains to Herd Pond, then cross back to the river, to the High School, come back up the river, down Pelham Island Road all the way to the town center, while dodging the duck boat and almost getting run over by it while in a canoe, then back to River Road only making two or three portages over he weekend! thats alot of water.
