It’s October, which means spooky season has officially arrived. While some have been crafting the ultimate costume for months, others have just begun to think about what they want to dress as this year. We compiled an array of different costume ideas that will be perfect for the one night a year you can be anyone you want to be.
Comfort characters:
Princess Mia Thermopolis from “The Princess Diaries”
The popular early 2000’s movie, “The Princess Diaries” provides a great last minute costume idea. Take any white dress paired with sunglasses, headphones and top it off with a tiara and boom–you’re the Princess of Genovia.
“Carrie”
While nothing about the movie “Carrie” can be considered comforting, her prom queen scene is certainly a memorable one. Pairing a white dress and tiara with fake blood and replicating her look from the movie, creates a costume that stays stylish while having the horror Halloween demands.
Jenna Rink from “13 Going on 30”
“13 Going on 30” is a classic comfort movie. Released in 2004, this movie has stayed popular for years. The main character Jenna Rink, played by Christa B. Allen, is seen wearing an iconic colorful mini dress. This dress has strips of purples, greens and blues. If you want an easy costume, dressing up as Jenna in this cute dress would be the perfect way to go.

“Fast and Furious”: Suki and Brian O’Conner
If your duo has one person who leans more creative while the other just wants something simple, this duo from “Fast & Furious” is a perfect fit for you. Suki’s iconic layered skirts and tank top outfit contrasts the simple pair of blue jeans and white t-shirt O’Conner often wears.
“Top Gun”: Maverick and Goose
Another fan-favorite duo is Maverick and Goose from Top Gun. These costumes have been done in many different ways, some people going all out with the jumpsuit and a fake mustache for Goose, while others sport the army green color and aviator sunglasses with a name tag reading Maverik.

This fan-favorite movie provides trios with unisex costume options. You can lean into the more masculine side like Ferris Bueller and his best friend Cameron do with pants and a jersey, or you can pair the tops with a skirt or dress to make it more feminine.
Alvin and The Chipmunks/Chipettes
This trio costume can easily turn into a six person costume. Take any red hoodie and iron on a yellow letter “A”, add some ears and you’re already Alvin. The Chippettes provide the opportunity for more creativity, each friend can choose either green, purple or pink depending on what chipmunks outfit they want to recreate. This costume can be as fun or as simple as you make it.
Three blind mice
Three blind mice is another great last minute costume option. All you need is a monochromatic white or black outfit and a pair of black-out sunglasses with mouse ears and, ta-da! Costume completed.

Hogwarts houses
While the “Golden trio” is often featured on Halloween, the Hogwarts houses are often less seen. You can make this more fun by taking a “What Hogwarts House Am I Quiz” before deciding which house, then choose who will wear what robes depending on if they get Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Ravenclaw.
Cards
While fun to play with, cards can also be fun to dress up as. Each person has a suit to choose from: spades, clubs, hearts or diamonds. You can play on the words and actually wear a suit or customize your costume to represent your card of choice. For example, the king of hearts can wear a crown with their red outfit and accessorize with hearts.
Disney
Disney has a culmination of so many different characters. Whether your friend group wants to do princesses, villains or heroes, there are enough characters for any group of four to easily dress up as.

“Scooby Doo”
Classic TV show “Scooby Doo” is perfect for a group of 5. The iconic friend group has Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby and can be dressed in any variation. You could choose to go “cuter” with it or more “silly.” Either way, the friend group photos will look superb on Halloween.
The Incredibles and Frozone
Going along with the iconic groups, the Incredibles is another fan favorite, and would be a great costume. This group of five could even be a fun selection for a family since the Incredibles is based on a family. You could also add Frozone to the group as well, including another icon of a character.
Spice Girls
A cute and fun costume to do with your best friends is dressing up as the girl group: the Spice Girls. The group formed in 1994, and created many hits that made them famous. There are 5 different “Spice’s” that you can choose from: Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice and Posh Spice.
