On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the No.7 ranked girls varsity volleyball team defeated Longmeadow High School to advance to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division II Championship. This is the girls volleyball team’s first trip to the state final in program history.

Wayland beat the previously 19-1 Longmeadow, with senior captain Anna Yalli getting the final kill for the win.

Wayland won the first set 25-18, the second set 28-25 and the third set 25-21.

The MIAA Division II Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov.15 at 10:00 a.m. at Billerica High School against the No.1 ranked Oliver Ames High School.

Oliver Ames hasn’t lost a game this season and ended the regular season with a record of 22-0. Oliver Ames defeated King Philip Regional High School in three sets to advance to the championship.

Tickets must be purchased ahead of the game on GoFan.

“These games have been super exciting, and I know the team would love to see the stands full of black and orange,” athletics assistant Erin Ryan wrote in an email to the school. “We hope to see you all there!”
