Wayland girls lacrosse beat undefeated St. Mary’s of Lynn on Wednesday, 17-7, in their first tournament game.
The ninth-seeded Warriors went to Lynn and upset the eighth-seeded Spartans. The Warriors never trailed and began to pull away at the start of the second half.
“We learned their little tricks and used those against them,” said senior captain Liz Doyon.
Wayland is on a five-game win streak and hasn’t lost since May 7th. Up next for the Warriors is a game against the top seed in the Division 2 North bracket, Winchester.
Winchester finished the regular season with a 16-2 record, losing only to the top-seeded teams in Divisions 1 and 2 South.
“We were almost a different team yesterday,” added Doyon. “Our passes were text book up and down the field.”
The Warriors will face Winchester on Friday at 4PM, in Winchester.
