Construction crews began positioning the steel supports for the new buildings on Thursday. Arriving from Canada, the large beams were trucked in starting at around 5 a.m. Crews began working on the beams for the Academic Building today, positioning just under two dozen beams in a 2-hour time span.
According to Dean of Students Scott Parseghian, in the coming days an additional crane will be brought in to work on the Commons Building, with roughly 30 construction workers on each building.
“After laying the beams, they’ll start working on roofs so they can work throughout the winter,” said Parseghian.
The new high school is ahead of schedule roughly 2-4 weeks, with planned completion of the new campus set for late 2011.
