What happened this week in Warrior Sports? Absolutely nothing. I will save my blog on Powder Puff and the Thanksgiving Day game for next week.
Because there is nothing else for me to write about this week, here’s a list of some random sports thoughts from inside my head:
1. I think it’s really funny when members of winter sports teams try to recruit other people to join their sport. I also really like how it doesn’t matter what your skill level is at that particular sport. I have been asked to join ski team even though I have only been skiing once in my life.
2. I am very excited for this year’s Wayland-Weston Thanksgiving football game. I expect that we will pretty much dominate the game, especially since it is played at home. However, I think next year’s new high school football playoffs guidelines will take away some energy from the Thanksgiving game because we may play Weston before it. For this reason I am not a fan of the new football playoffs.
3. Best Sports Movies:
1. The Sandlot
2. Field of Dreams
3. Bull Durham
4. Caddyshack
5. Friday Night Lights
6. Rookie of the Year
7. Rudy
4. Why does the fieldhouse have a rubber surface instead of wood?
5. Wouldn’t an ice skating rink be a good thing to go into the town center? I personally don’t skate, but I know many people who do. I also know that it would be a lot easier for our local hockey teams.
6. Why can’t the NHL owners and players reach a deal? It is kinda getting ridiculous.
7. Mike Trout should have won the MVP. Case closed.
8. If Bryce Harper and Mike Trout can win Rookie of the Year awards at ages 19 and 20 respectively, then why don’t the Red Sox call up their prospects until they are 23 or 24?
9. Is it possible for the boys hockey team to do any better than they did last year? I hope so. Last year it was awesome going to all their games. It really made hockey relevant at WHS again.
10. Why was Tom Brady named Sexiest Man alive from Michigan? He was born in California and lives in Massachusetts. He only went to college in Michigan for 4 years. He is not exactly from Michigan. Speaking of which, what a bad couple of weeks it has been for Mitt Romney, born and raised in Detroit. I guess losing to a more athletic younger man is starting to become a trend.
11. Not sports related, but since it is starting to get cold outside… the best Christmas movie of all time is “Elf.” There is no argument you can give to me that will change my mind.
“I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can’t trust ’em.”
