Dr. Burton announced on Monday, December 15th that the Wayland School Committee was fast-forwarding development on the new high school. The High School Building Committee and newly-hired plant planner Frank Locker are assembling a team of volunteers of school officials, teachers, students, and other town residents to help in the design and planning of this school in a new “Futures Team.”
Boston-based HMFH Architects Inc. is the primary architectural company working on the project, but Frank Locker has been employed to help HMFH. Before any design takes place. Locker will be hosting design sessions with the volunteer team to both explain plans and take suggestions.
The first discussion will be hosted on January 7th in the School Committee Hearing Room in the Town Building from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This will be an explanatory meeting that prefaces the two following days of Futures Team work sessions from 8:30 to 3:30. There are several more potential meetings scheduled during January and February.
Dr. Burton is searching for volunteers interested in participating in this Futures Team. Any resident of Wayland, school administrator, or faculty member is eligible, and they are especially looking for a diverse group of Wayland High School students, as the new school will directly affect us. Any interested students should contact Dr. Burton.

Great article, Andrew! The idea of a new school does sound interesting as well as appealing, but I highly doubt that any of us will ever see it.
