News Brief: “Standing with our Neighbors: United Against Hate” event to be held at Islamic Center of Boston
On Sunday, Nov. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., a march will take place at the Islamic Center of Boston (ICB) in Wayland.
According to an email sent by Principal Allyson Mizoguchi to all faculty at WHS, the march is in response to a “hateful note” received by the ICB last week.
ICB president Malik Khan wrote in an email to the Metrowest Daily News that the note the ICB received addresses the worshipers at the mosque as the “children of Satan” and that it included the sentence, “There’s a new sheriff in town — President Donald Trump.”
The event is sponsored by the Islamic Center of Boston, the Wayland Clergy Association, the Wayland Diversity Network, Baha’i’s of Wayland, Transition Wayland, Showing Up for Racial Justice Metrowest and other organizations.
Those interested in attending the event are advised by the ICB to meet at the Wayland Town Center and then carpool to Temple Shir Tikva to park for the event. The ICB is located at 126 Boston Post Road, Wayland, MA, 01778.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Wayland High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment, cover our annual website hosting costs and sponsor admission and traveling costs for the annual JEA journalism convention.
