On Saturday at 7:04 p.m., all WHS students received an email from president-elect Donald Trump’s campaign headquarters thanking them for subscribing to campaign emails and soliciting donations.

On Sunday, all WHS students received another email asking them to either confirm their subscriptions to the Trump campaign’s emails or ignore the message.

Trump, a Republican, was elected president on November 9. He won 46.0% of the popular vote and 306 electoral votes. Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton won 48.1% of the popular vote and 232 electoral votes. According to the Wayland town clerk’s office, 19.5% of Wayland voters cast their ballots for Trump.

UPDATED (12/21/16): WHS Principal Allyson Mizoguchi sent out an email to the student body Wednesday announcing that public access to high school student email groups is now closed. Mizoguchi said that administration suspects someone, possibly a student, signed student email groups up for Trump campaign messages.
