Warrior Weekly: TCU looks to cement contender status
October 5, 2017
Duncan’s College Football Top 4 – Week 5
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide followed up their thrashing of Vanderbilt with a 66-3 slugging of Ole Miss. I don’t know what to say at this point other than Alabama is in a league of its own. The gap between them and the rest of CFB is as wide as it has ever been.
2. Clemson Tigers
If there is a team that could compete with ‘Bama, it’s the Tigers. While watching them dismantle Virginia Tech on the road, it became clear that their roster consists of “SEC level” athleticism. They have the size and speed to go toe-to-toe with the Crimson Tide.
3. Oklahoma Sooners
Nothing much to say here. The Sooners had the week off. They look to continue their winning ways against Iowa State.
4. Penn State Nittany Lions
A convincing win against a solid Indiana squad is enough for the Nittany Lions to remain in the Top 4. I almost put Georgia here, but let’s see a couple more wins from the Bulldogs before we place them amongst the elite.
Heisman Watch:
1. Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State – 960 total yards (8.5 per touch), 6 total TDs, 1 KOR TD
2. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma – 1,329 yards, 13 TDs, 0 INTs, 75.2% completion
3. Bryce Love, RB, Stanford – 98 carries, 1,088 yards (11.1 per carry), 8 TDs
Game of the Week: (23) West Virginia vs. (8) TCU – 3:30 PM ET – FS1
The last time TCU took the field, they knocked off then #6 Oklahoma State on the road. If they can follow up that upset with another win over a ranked team, they can cement themselves as a legitimate playoff contender.
Prediction: TCU 44, West Virginia 20
