With Melissa Bryant retiring at the end of this school year, another teacher will have to step up as the World Language Department Head. After a long process of interviews and classroom visitations, Spanish teacher Nicole Haghdoust has been selected for the position. She was the only applicant who currently works at WHS, and she will begin the role starting the 2019-2020 school year.

Haghdoust has been teaching at WHS for four years and taught at Sutton High School for several years prior.

“I’m looking forward to working with the administration team as well as taking charge of the curriculum in the language department,” Haghdoust said. “In addition, I think it will be a great experience to not only work with other Spanish teachers but other language teachers in our department.”

Haghdoust values language education and believes it is very beneficial.

“I think teaching language teaches culture and appreciation for different groups of people,” Haghdoust said.
