On September 19th, Lincoln-Sudbury Football Fans took having a great season opener a little too far. To break open the new football season, students of Lincoln-Sudbury decided to come drunk, or planned on drinking at their first home game. In no time at all, most of the student section was seen falling, tripping, and completely intoxicated. When school officials tried to address the issue, students fled, while those too drunk to run stumbled right into the hands of the police. In light of four arrests, two hospitalizations, and seven suspensions, the school decided it had to change something in order to reinforce that underage drinking would not be tolerated.
In the aftermath of this underage drinking scandal, fans from both the home team and the visiting team will not be allowed to bring bottles, containers or bags to Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School football games without being thoroughly checked. Also, fans will not be allowed to reenter the stadium once they leave. By enforcing these rules, the school hopes that underage drinking at football games will no longer be a problem. In addition to the school’s new rules, the school decided that for the next home football game, all students would have to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. This one-time punishment sent shock waves through the school, until students realized that this part of the punishment would only be for one additional game. One Lincoln-Sudbury student claimed, “The one time rule was stupid, one student could walk in and say to an adult ‘Hey can I come with you?’ and everything else would be the same.” However, the next home game at Lincoln-Sudbury brought in the same number of fans it had previously.
This Friday’s away game at Lincoln-Sudbury should proceed as normal. The one-time punishment took place last weekend, meaning that Wayland fans will be able to attend the Lincoln-Sudbury game without being accompanied by an adult. However, bags, containers, and other items such as water bottles, will be checked at the door before entering. Also, once they’ve entered the stadium, students may not leave and plan to return. Therefore, this Friday when you come to cheer on Wayland football, plan to stay the entire game.

Maggie, I agree with Andrew B, this absurd generalization about Lincoln Sudbury is unfair because 3/4 of the kids were not drunk. Where did you get these facts? Did you go to the game and keep track? And please clarify on what the age range of the drinkers. When you say 3/4 of the kids, I question whether or not some 10 year old were enebriated. I doubt they were so clarify please.

Why were only 4 arrested? If it was “MOST of the student section,” shouldn’t more than 4 people have gotten arrested? I find it hard to believe that that many drunk kids could run away from the police.

yaa apperently 3/4 of the kids were drunk butt as it says in the article PEOPLE RAN when the school officials tried to take an exact amount of people. Also, when students got arrested they were asked who else was drunk andd by the number of other kids that were mentioned means that it was MOST of the student section.

Waitaminute…
Could we have some numbers here? “Most of the student section” is kind of vague, and makes me think that 80% of the class was reeling drunk. Is that so? In that case, wouldn’t there have been more than four arrests? And wouldn’t officials have noticed before the police arrived?
