BREAKING NEWS: Classes cancelled Thur. Oct. 8 due to power outages
October 7, 2020
Wayland Public Schools will not be holding classes on Thursday, Oct. 8 due to many students’ powers and the schools’ powers going out after fierce wind and rain barreled through Wayland.
The decision comes after the Wayland Fire and Police Chief predicts that 40-60% of students will not have power by the morning, and the power is not expected to be back until the evening of Thursday, Oct. 8. Dr. Arthur Unobskey, Superintendent of the Wayland Public Schools, called Wayland families Wednesday night to inform them of the cancellation.
“We had hoped to conduct school remotely, but because so many of our students will not have power, we will need to cancel classes for Thursday, Oct. 8,” Unobskey said.
As of right now, classes will resume on Friday, Oct. 10 as normal.
