Faced with the impossibility of being able to put on their fall musical, but still wanting to perform and connect with their audience, WHSTE had to answer the following question: How do you put on a play during a pandemic? Their creative solution is “Seul.”

“Seul takes place in 2036, under the premise that this pandemic did not end,” WHSTE director Aidan O’Hara said. “What would a generation of teenagers be like if the environment of [COVID-19] was all they knew—our protagonist is 16, and that is her reality. Our film or play is her story, combined with the relationships of the people around her.”

WHSTE is putting on productions of “Seul” on the nights of Thursday, Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.. Additionally, WHSTE will be showing a movie on each of the nights. The Pixar film “Inside Out” is being shown on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. following the first play, and Pixar’s “WALL-E” will be played before the play on Friday at 5 p.m..

“The execution of all of this is largely a film,” O’Hara said. “It will be premiered as part of a professional pop up drive-in theater in the Claypit Hill parking lot. Our cast will be interacting with the film in new and innovative ways. Almost a Greek Chorus to the action of the story on screen. We’re excited to be preparing for both a live performance and our full fall production.”

Tickets are $25 per car. WHSTE encourages that cars include only people in the same residence or pod. Additionally, you have to pre-purchase the tickets to attend either event.
