Restaurant Review: Dudley Chateau, a Wayland staple
March 17, 2021
With the current restrictions on dining capacity, many small restaurants are suffering greatly to stay open. Everyday a ‘Mom and Pops’ place seems to shut down due to the on-going pandemic. The Dudley Chateau, a local Wayland restaurant, commonly called the “Chat,” is a place where many Wayland residents grew up getting food from. By having easy takeout options, the Dudley Chateau makes for a perfectly safe establishment to have a delicious meal.
I regularly get takeout from the Dudley Chateau, and I want to give you the full scoop on the great food the restaurant has to offer.
Although the environment inside the Dudley Chateau is half the experience – T.V.’s to watch sports, overlooking Dudley Pond, music playing in the relaxed atmosphere – the meals make up for the lack of current in-person dining. The Dudley Chateau has an assortment of wraps, sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, salads and anything else that will make your mouth water. I have never ordered something that I have not loved.
The Dudley Chateau has incorporated igloos outside the restaurant alongside their indoor seating for customers who chose to eat in or at the restaurant. These igloos make for a fun and safe dining experience while also remaining socially distant from other tables.
Now, back to the tasty entreés to choose from. I recommend the chicken wings, which are perfect to share or take for yourself. Offering every possible flavor imaginable, they are the perfect food to fill you up. Among the many other types of American cuisine offered, I love the different types of burgers and sandwiches made.
When it comes to sandwiches and burgers, the Dudley Chateau is your place to go. They have steak, chicken and club sandwiches, which all allow for a delicious meal. Alongside these options, they also serve a variety of tacos, seafood and appetizers. The appetizers are the perfect size to share with others. Some possible options include fries, nachos, chili and sliders, among many others.
For families, the “Chat” creates many different meals appealing to children as well, making the restaurant a great option that the whole family can enjoy together. Growing up, one of my favorite kid’s meals from the “Chat” were the burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, which almost every kid is bound to enjoy.
With a website for online ordering, the Dudley Chateau makes it very easy to do takeout for a safer COVID-19 option. I recommend calling them to place your order if it is not possible to do it online. Additionally, online services such as GrubHub and DoorDash are available for easily delivery from the “Chat.” From my experience with these services, it was very simple and the food came quickly.
Overall, I think the Dudley Chateau is the best place for a quick and tasty meal for the whole family. With the economic challenges of this pandemic for small businesses, this is the perfect opportunity for you to support a local Wayland staple restaurant.

My husband was going to the Chat since he was a young man. He is 88 and we are still going there.
Our kids and grand kids are going there.
Love, love, love it
