Dear Class of 2011,
By now, I’m certain you have heard that, due to the construction project set to start this summer, parking will be extraordinarily limited. Space restrictions will only allow for some 150 parking spaces, which is slightly more than enough spaces to accommodate faculty and staff. To be clear, the prospect of converting the softball field into a parking lot was explored in depth. It was subsequently deemed an unattractive option because of the prohibitive cost and other justifying factors.
I communicate this to you with a heavy heart, as I know that driving to school coupled with the privilege of leaving campus during a free block is a feature that many of you look forward to from the moment you set foot on the WHS campus. Nonetheless, our primary charge is to ensure that each and every one of you is provided a top notch education. Accordingly, we sought a building plan with little or no interruption to the educational happenings on campus. Parking took a hit as a result.
As one of the baseball greats once said, “It’s not over until it’s over.” I would like to apply some creativity to this issue; think outside of the box, if you will. I need your help to do it. I would like to invite 5-7 of you to join a small strategy group I am in the process of putting together. The group’s charge will be to investigate parking scenarios during the construction project. If you are interested, please contact Anne Gray by January 22nd.
Thanks for your attention and best of luck as you wrap up quarter two and prepare for midterms!
Sincerely,
Mr. T
