Wayland High School will be hosting its second annual Wayland Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Fair on Sunday, Dec. 8 in the high school commons. Co-organizers and seniors Arya Samaratunga and Eunjee Kang worked together to plan an event where anyone can come and embrace the intricacy of the STEM program and community.

BTONE: A workout for all levels, ages, every body, every day
Lets Save the Strays, founded by Wayland resident, Amy Shroff. The goal of this organization is to treat stray dogs in impoverished areas of Asia in ways that benefit the animals as well as the people. By collaborating with local communities and inspiring veterinarians across the globe, Let's Save the Strays works to make lasting change in the places they serve. “Between all these different groups, we're really starting to make a difference,” Shroff said. “That's the beauty of this, we really are starting to see the change.”

While most people survive each day avoiding an urgent trip to the emergency room, having it there for emergency situations is critical for safety, but how safe are they really? “Everyone is suffering, both the patients as well as the medical professionals trying to make things better,” Emergency Physician Melisa Poulos said.
A ticking time bomb: How hospital waiting times affect both the patients and medical staff
Gap years are an uncommon alternative for high school graduates, in which graduates take a year or more off from schooling and pursue something separate from college until they are ready to return to their education or something else. Wayland High School psychology teacher David Schmirer believes that college is a good route for many high school graduates, however, he also says that its best to keep an open mind when thinking about gap years. “I think the vast majority of our students are going to be fine with [going to college] and [are] ready to go, but for those students who are having [gap years] be a more visible choice I think [it] is a good thing both for physical and mental health,” Schmirer said.

"The atmosphere was incredible, having two towns that both come to support us is amazing," Galizio said. "When [the crowd] started chanting 'Raider nation' it made [the game] feel like it wasn't just one team against another, we had a whole building of fans supporting us."

In honor of the annual Coaches vs Cancer, all players wore pink bows in their hair. In addition to the bows, the team wore matching pink shirts and spent time before the game setting up the gym with pink streamers and hearts.
