Wayland Middle School families were notified of a school closure on Monday, Jan. 31 at 6:50 a.m. with emails from both Principal Betsy Gavron and Superintendent Omar Easy. The sprinkler system in the middle school went off during the night and caused the school to flood, which lead to the closure.

“This morning, I was notified that the sprinkler system was activated during the night causing flooding at the middle school,” Easy said in an email. “Due to this incident, school will be CLOSED today, January 31, for all students and staff at the Middle School ONLY.”
