Wayland High School students taking the Social Science course had the opportunity to visit the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Norfolk, the second largest medium security prison in Massachusetts. Through the program Project Youth, students were able to sit down with inmates to talk about their personal experiences and how they ended up in prison.

On Friday, Sept. 29, WHS’s Green Team held a protest before school to get the water turned back on at the school. Due to PFAS levels in the town water, the school turned off the running water last year and since then, have been supplying plastic water bottles. The Green Team have taken issue with the amount of plastic waste coming from the school. They asked students to sign a petition urging administration to turn the water back on and end the supply of plastic water bottles.

Green Team and Sewing Club plan for their slow fashion show on Monday, Jan. 31. The idea for the show came after Green Team decided they wanted to bring awareness to the fast fashion industry. “We were talking about spreading awareness about the fast fashion industry, and Madame Langelier offered the idea to collaborate with the Sewing Club because sewing is a sustainable practice,” senior Green Team President Madeeha Syeda said. “Many members were interested in the idea of a sustainable fashion-fashion show. So, we are making it happen.”
