Well, it’s happening. Midterms are meddling with our lives. They’re here, putting everything else people are doing on hiatus. Instead, people are cooped up studying and preparing. I’ve been dreading midterms for a while, to be truthful. I doubt that too many people are looking forward to them.
There are advantages, however, like being able to leave school early. You only have to sit in a hard blue plastic chair for two hours, not seven. Then, you can either sleep and pretend the last two hours didn’t happen, or you can study for the next two hour nightmare.
Teachers are being very helpful though, for most part. The most common advice we hear is, “Go over all your old notes and make sure you understand everything.” Uh – oh. There could be a problem there. Suddenly you realize that last week you decided to burn those notes to make more space for funny drawings in your binder. And what if the teachers want to see your notes? Oops.

It doesn’t seem realistic that you’ll relearn 4 ½ months of work in a week or two. There’s a reason it took 4 ½ months to learn it the first time around. But stranger things have happened. For instance, a certain freshman was allowed a blog on this site. Go figure.
Probably the only thing that keeps people going through midterm season is the thought that after midterms are done interrupting your life, we get Winter Week. I’m excited to experience it for the first time. I’ve heard from everyone that it’s a lot of fun. Then February break will come soon after… oh wait, I already went through this.
Well, as I’m beginning to ramble and repeat myself, it’s time to wrap this up.
¡Adios! (See, I am totally ready for my Spanish midterm.)
Andy.
P.S. Sadly, I won’t be able to put up a post next week due to the fact that I’ll be taking midterms and studying frantically. So those of you who are gluttons for punishment, I am very sorry.

Midterms, dare I say it, are easy for freshmen. Yes it's a lot of information at once, but remember, there's only so much they can test you on. Yes, once you get out of CWC and into some REAL hardcore History classes like HOWNW, HUSH and APUSH (and their college-level counterparts), you will suddenly realize you must relearn 200 years of American history in not a week, but three days, because by sophomore year you have no time to prepare for a full week in advance. Quasi-impossible.
On the upside, you've got a lot of time right now to prepare, your classes are stunningly simple, and the one upside to getting older is your classes get comprehensive, i.e. each piece of information connects to the next until everything you learn over one year is connected.
You're only just getting started, sweetheart. Enjoy it while you can.
