Happy winter Scrambled readers!
In my family, my mom typically cooks dinner, and my dad does the dishes afterwards. However, this routine poses a problem when my mom has to travel for work. My dad and I are left to make dinner for ourselves, something we are not accustomed to.
One thing my dad has been able to develop over the years is his recipe for American Chop Suey, and it is now one of my favorites. Sometimes, I even look forward to my mom going away, so I can get a nice bowl of my dad’s specialty.
There is just something my dad does when he makes this meal that makes it extra scrumptious. Call me cliche, but I think it’s love – just kidding. The only thing I know is that no one has ever made American Chop Suey exactly like my dad does.
Ingredients:
1 box of spaghetti
1 lb. of ground beef
1 jar of tomato sauce
1 chopped onion
Parmesan cheese (the amount is up to you)
First, boil the water for the spaghetti, and while it is boiling, mince the onions. When the water is ready, add the spaghetti. While the spaghetti is cooking, sauté the meat and onions in a frying pan until they are brown. After both the spaghetti and the meat are cooked, combine them with the sauce. Add parmesan cheese before eating if you’d like. Now you have yourself an easy, yummy meal!
Enjoy!
