Name: Joey Christakis
Grade: Senior
Sport: Hockey
Achievements: Christakis was a DCL All-Star this season and won an Honorable Mention last year. During his sophomore year, the WHS hockey team won the Division 3 North Sectional and the DCL. This season, he led the team to win the Division 3 North Sectional and helped the team make the Divsion 3 state semi-final.
Sports Idol: Christakis’s sports idol is Wayne Gretzky. One of Gretzky’s most famous quotes is “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.” Gretzky’s message influenced Christakis when he scored the overtime goal against Watertown.
Favorite memory: His favorite memory was from sophomore year when he scored the goal in overtime, and his team beat Watertown.
Quote: Christakis says he loves hockey because of “the atmosphere, the team, [and] all the guys.” “We all come together, we all love the sport, we all love each other, [and] we all love hanging out. No one really dislikes each other.”
