On Wednesday, May 13, seniors wearing burger king crowns and spraying each other with water mystified underclassmen and teachers alike. The observers who were in the know could be heard whispering one word to each other: Assassin.

Assassin is a game where all participants are assigned a target, someone who they are responsible for eliminating from the game. Assassins eliminate their targets by splashing them with water. Once participants eliminate a target, they then pursue the targets of the people they eliminated.

The game was paused after homeroom today, and it will be restarted tomorrow. All targets will be reassigned.

Shannon Malany, one of the organizers described the reasons for restarting the game. “Because of confusions about the safe item and what counted as legitimate kills, we decided it would be easier to restart the game than to negotiate what was a legitimate kill and what was not. It was also confusing because Bryant Wolf [the other organizer] and I were not on the same page, so we were telling people different things.”

Jon Bailey, a junior, described Assassin as “an exciting way to relax the atmosphere on campus.” He added that he was looking forward to playing the game as a senior. The game will restart on Thursday, and hopefully things will go more smoothly the second time around.
